Gosse de Kort

Gosse de Kort (1978) studied Architecture at the TU Delft and graduated cum laude at the Master department of Artscience of the Royal Academy of the Arts and Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 2008. He is driven by his interests in perception, embodiment, movement and the notion of affect, against a backdrop of spatial experience. He believes that space is a construct of the mind, which appears when people establish relationships within the mental landscape of their experiences. An approach which is not relying on specific means or media and values space as a social, mental and emotional resource.

Projects start with the development of space-time scenarios by combining the expressive potential of space with the possibilities of composition in time and motion, resulting in concepts, installations and (directing) performances. His works often feature the audience as co-actor and offer the opportunity to explore the environment or situation in articulated ways. He likes to think about his work as a form of “mental landscaping” or “spatial dramaturgy”.
